  24.             The Medieval and Early Modern Data Bank is a  resource  pro-
  25.             ject  established  at Rutgers University and co-sponsored by
  26.             The Resource Libraries Group, Inc.  Its aim  is  to  provide
  27.             scholars  with  a continually expanding reference library of
  28.             information  concerning  the  medieval  and   early   modern
  29.             periods,  circa A.D. 800-1800.  Because MEMDB is a computer-
  30.             based,  electronic  reference  tool,  it  offers  remarkable
  31.             facilities for immediate information retrieval and manipula-
  32.             tion.

  34.             In 1989-90 MEMDB will become an on-line system, available to
  35.             subscribers  through  RLG's  Research  Libraries Information
  36.             Network (RLIN).  When MEMDB becomes  RLIN-based  its  master
  37.             data set will be vastly expanded.  MEMDB's scope will extend
  38.             to virtually any scholarly compilation of data that  can  be
  39.             presented  in  a  tabular  form.   New material to be incor-
  40.             porated will include information on such subjects  as  wages
  41.             and  prices,  household  size, mortality, property-holdings,
  42.             charity, and nutrition, drawn from such sources as:

  44.             o+    taxation records
  45.  
  46.             o+    wills and inventories
  47.  
  48.             o+    parish records and vital statistics
  49.
